EPL Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal (NLD – Part: 3, Can we do the triple?)

Can the Gunners do a rare triple against their North London neighbors this season? That question will be wandering in the minds of all the Gooners this Sunday as Arsenal travels to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham in the Barclays Premier League.

Team news: Aaron Ramsey is out, Gibbs is a doubt but Monreal and Kallstrom are back and available.

Arsenal haven’t won at White Hart Lane for a few years now. Last year, they suffered a 2-1 defeat there which diminished their chances of finishing in top 4 but they made a massive comeback and again managed to finish above Spurs by winning on the last day of last season. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has never finished below Tottenham since taking over his job at Arsenal. However this season, things are rather different as Arsenal are fighting for the title while Spurs are trying to finish in the top 4. Tottenham are struggling at the moment and are coming into this derby game on the back of two humiliating defeats against Chelsea and Benfica. On the other hand, Arsenal are quite healthy results wise as they have not only managed to book a semi-final spot in the FA Cup but have also saved their pride by getting a 1-1 draw away at Allianz Arena against the best team on the planet i.e Bayern Munich. But, form goes out the window on Derby Days and hence we can expect another feisty collision between the two clubs when the two lock horns this weekend in the English Premier League. Come on you Reds!!

FA Cup Review: Arsenal 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur (North London is still red)

North London is still red as Arsenal eliminated their neighbors Tottenham Hotspur from the FA Cup in a very convincing and dominating manner. Arsenal made a lot of changed while Spurs only made one but still the Gunners outclassed and outperformed Tottenham in many levels. This victory is immense for the morale of the team and the players deserved to go through to the next round of the competition.

Arsenal dominated both halves of the game. They knew what this game is all about and that’s why went for it from the off and it took them about 30 minutes to open the scoring after waves after waves of attack when the youngster Serge Gnabry gave a beautifully weighted pass to Cazorla who finished it in brilliant fashion to give Gunners the lead at half time. The second half was more of the same and it was soon 2-0 to Arsenal when Spurs’s player Rose lost the ball in midfield to Rosicky who continued to rush towards the goal and managed to score a gorgeous chipped goal. Bad news from the game was that both Arteta and Walcott got injured at the end and the Gunners had to survive the final 15 minutes with 10 men and they did that pretty well and were able to keep another clean-sheet.

This was Arsenal’s 2nd 2-0 home win this year so it’s good to see that the year 2014 has started in fine fashion for the Gunners who are now in for achieving a double this season. Hope, the players play like this in the next round and try to get a ticket to Wembley in May.

FA Cup Preview: Arsenal vs. Tottenham Hotspur (North London Derby – Part 2)

It’s time for the North London Derby part 2 as Arsenal hosts Tottenham for the second time this season but this time these two sides will lock horns in the oldest cup competition in the world, the FA Cup.

Team news: Giroud is 90% out with sickness, Ozil will have a late scan prior to the match while Ramsey and Gibbs are still out.

This is the tie of the round of this years FA Cup third round. Both sides are in good form going into this match with Arsenal collecting 10 points from their run of festive league fixtures and Spurs achieving another win at Old Trafford against Manchester United for the second year in a row. Arsenal will have to play this match without a proper striker with Giroud 90% out with sickness so just like in the New Year’s Day, the Gunners would have to manage with the players they have and try to get a result by hook or by crook. Although, Arsenal are currently topping the league table, they would like to have a good cup run having been eliminated from the Capital One Cup earlier in the season. North London Derbies are always fiercely fought games and with Arsenal winning it in the league earlier in the season, Tottenham will be highly motivated to oust their neighbors from the FA Cup.

EPL Review: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur (The game is decided by points not pounds)

Yes folks!! North London is still red & white as Arsenal beat their arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur by 1-0 at the Emirates. It was an end to end game, hyped by Tottenham’s big spending this summer but the game is decided by points not pounds where Arsenal excelled. Tottenham had spent a total of 107+ million pounds in this summer transfer window reinvesting the money from the Bale transfer to Real Madrid but the players they brought in are all foreign players without much knowledge of not only the English game but also of the North London Derby. On the other hand, Arsenal still has the same starting eleven of last season and are completely settled and united.

Olivier Giroud scored the only goal of the game when he brilliantly timed his run for a tap in of Walcott’s assist. Arsenal played a brilliant counter-attacking game. Tottenham had more of the possession but Arsenal were clinical in front of goal. Both halves were full of passion and excitement as one would expect from a match of this magnitude. Usually, North London Derbies are quite high scoring and is the most “goal fest” guaranteed fixture in the Barclays Premier League but last night was a bit different as we saw the determination, fighting character and spirit of Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

With just 24 hours to go until the transfer window closes, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has hinted at one or two surprises which can excite us the Arsenal fans…

Wenger in his post-match press conference said,

“We need one or two super players. Maybe in 24 hours we can surprise you!” –

EPL Preview: Arsenal vs. Tottenham Hotspur (North London Derby)

The season has just begun and already the most fiercest rivalry is upon us. Yes folks, it’s time for the North London Derby. It has been a very different kind of summer for both Arsenal and Tottenham as in one hand, Spurs have spent and re-invested all of their money from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid on buying quality players and breaking their transfer record three times in the same window whereas on the other hand, Arsenal are yet to spend a single penny and all the Arsenal fans are having to satisfy themselves with just Sonogo and Flamini who have come on free transfers.

But, the summer business won’t define this match as this is a Derby game and in a derby match, everything depends on the desire and commitment to win. Last season, Arsenal had once again beat Tottenham to secure a top 4 position but since the last couple of years Tottenham have come closer to us and are pushing to get into the top 4. They are now a top threat in the English Premier League. With just a couple of days left in the transfer window, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger must try to add a few quality players in order to compete on all fronts this season but he also have to motivate his players to beat Spurs not only to continue their winning momentum but also to prove a point that Arsenal are going nowhere…

Team news: Ramsey and Wilshere are available while Lukas Podolski is out for 8-10 weeks with a hamstring injury.
